Global Attributes

By global attributes, we mean attributes that can be added dynamically to any item in the Apis Hive environment at any time. There are three main categories of global items: global attributes defined by an Apis module; predefined Apis attributes; predefined OPC attributes.

Defined by modules

Some modules register global attributes in the Apis Hive environment. These global attributes can be added dynamically to any item in the Apis Hive namespace at any time. The module owning the global attribute, defines the meaning of it.

An example using ApisLoggerBee

The ApisLoggerBee module defines a global attribute called the Log attribute. This attribute controls whether or not an item is being stored to the Apis Honeystore historian as a time series. If this attribute is added to an item, and the value of the attribute is set to true, the item is being stored.

Predefined Apis attributes

The predefined OPC attributes are attributes that have been defined by the OPC Foundation according to the OPC DA specification. These attributes are described here, Predefined Apis attributes.

Predefined OPC attributes

The predefined OPC attributes are attributes that have been defined by the OPC Foundation according to the OPC DA specification. These attributes are described here, OPC DA Item Attributes.
